Last year, my kids and I participated in a Read Aloud Revival Writing Workshop where we learned about the Nonet poetry form. A nonet is a nine-line poem, where each line has an extra syllable. The first line has one syllable, the second line has two, and so on until the ninth and final line has nine syllables. I played around with the form myself. After all, there’s no better way to teach our kids than modeling what we’d like them to do!
Rain
pouring
flowing through
gutters Iike blood
coursing through my veins
carrying oxygen
vital nutrients and life
to parched and neglected soil
preparing the ground for better days
